Overseas Chinese Students (Resident Visa)

This visa allows Overseas Chinese to return to Taiwan for study for period longer than six months.
Requirements: Overseas chinese students who, while still remaining outside of the R.O.C. (Taiwan), are jointly assigned to universities/colleges, vocational schools or high schools and below by the ministry of education of the university entrance committee for overseas chinese students. Application form Go to website: https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw . Fill out the application form online and print it out. Make sure the application form shows a bar code on it. Sign the application form. Two color passport-size photos Paste on the application form two color passport-size photos with a white background taken within 6 months. Passport and one photocopy of the passport The passport must be valid for at least 6 months and there are blank pages left in it. One photocopy of the passport bio-page including the holder’s picture is required. Original and one photocopy of health certificate The health certificate should be issued within 3 months by one of the local hospitals designated by the Centers for Disease Control of Ministry of Health and Welfare of the R.O.C. (Taiwan) or a foreign hospital. Health certificates issued by foreign hospitals must be authenticated by an R.O.C. (Taiwan) overseas mission. Original and one photocopy of notice of assignment Applicants must be determined by the Overseas Community Affairs Council as qualified overseas Chinese students, and are assigned to local schools by the Ministry of Education or the University Entrance Committee for Overseas Chinese Students in accordance with the “Regulations Regarding Study and Counseling Assistance for Overseas Chinese Students in Taiwan.” The notice of assignment must be issued by the Ministry of Education or the University Entrance Committee for Overseas Chinese Students. Applicants who already study in the R.O.C. (Taiwan) and wish to apply for a Resident Visa must also present the record of enrollment and registration as well as transcripts. Applicants who previously suspended their study and wish to resume study must present proof of both suspension and resumption of study. Original and one photocopy of highest education diploma and transcripts Foreign diplomas and transcripts must be authenticated by an R.O.C. (Taiwan) overseas mission or an agency designated by the Overseas Community Affairs Council. For diplomas and transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English, a Chinese- or English-translation version is also required. The original-language diploma, transcripts, and accompanying Chinese- or English-translation must be authenticated by an R.O.C. (Taiwan) overseas mission or an agency designated by the Overseas Community Affairs Council. Other supporting documents To be decided on a case-by-case basis. Applicants who apply for a Resident Visa after having arrived in the R.O.C.(Taiwan) are required to present also one photocopy of the Visitor Visa and the immigration entry stamp. OVERSEAS CHINESE STUDENTS WHO, AFTER HAVING ARRIVED IN THE R.O.C. (TAIWAN), ARE INDIVIDUALLY ASSIGNED TO HIGH SCHOOLS AND BELOW BY THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION OR COUNTY/CITY BUREAU OF EDUCATION Application form Go to website: https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw . Original and one photocopy of letter of approval and notice of assignment Follow the “Regulations Regarding Study and Counseling Assistance for Overseas Chinese Students in Taiwan.” Applicant qualification: Applicants who already stay in the R.O.C. (Taiwan) on an Alien Residence Certificate or enter the R.O.C. (Taiwan) on an extendable 60-day Visitor Visa for purposes other than pursuing studies, and are determined by the Overseas Community Affairs Council as qualified overseas Chinese students and have been assigned to local high schools or vocational schools and below by the Ministry of Education or county/city Bureau of Education. The letter of approval issued by the Overseas Community Affairs Council and the notice of assignment issued by the Ministry of Education or county/city Bureau of Education. Applicants who already study in the R.O.C. (Taiwan) and wish to apply for a Resident Visa must also present the record of enrollment and registration as well as transcripts. Applicants who previously suspended their study and wish to resume study must present proof of both suspension and resumption of study. Original and one photocopy of record of enrollment and registration The record of enrollment and registration or student ID issued by the school the pplicant is studying at. The back of student ID must show a school registration stamp. Original and one photocopy of highest education diploma and transcripts Foreign diplomas and transcripts must be authenticated by an R.O.C. (Taiwan) overseas mission or an agency designated by the Overseas Community Affairs Council. For diplomas and transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English, a Chinese- or English-translation version is also required. (Taiwan) Applicant’s guardian in Taiwan must produce a letter of consent indicating his/her willingness to assume the responsibility of overseeing the applicant’s conduct. The letter of consent must be notarized by a local district court of the R.O.C. (Taiwan). The Household Registration Certificate must be issued within 3 months prior to the time of visa application. Other supporting documents Supporting documents such as proof of financial support, the purpose of visiting Taiwan, guarantee by references in Taiwan, parental consent or proof of no-criminal record may be required on a case-by-case basis. Students who apply for a Resident Visa after having arrived in the R.O.C.(Taiwan) are required to present also one photocopy of the Visitor Visa and the immigration entry stamp. OVERSEAS CHINESE STUDENTS WHO APPLY DIRECTLY TO UNIVERSITITES/COLLEGES ON THEIR OWN Application form Go to website: https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw . Original and one photocopy of admission permit Follow the “Regulations Regarding Study and Counseling Assistance for Overseas Chinese Students in Taiwan.” Applicants may only apply to universities/colleges that are approved by the Ministry of Education to admit overseas Chinese students independently. Applicant qualification: Overseas Chinese applicants are required to submit application documents directly to the qualified universities/colleges. Application documents will be forwarded by the schools to the Overseas Community Affairs Council. The Council will reply to the applicants after confirming the applicants’ qualification. The admission permit must be issued by the admitting school. Students who already study in the R.O.C. (Taiwan) and wish to apply for a Resident Visa must also present the record of enrollment and registration as well as transcripts.
